5 tips for planning a great Staff Christmas Party

Christmas is such a special time of year, and a wonderful opportunity to thank your staff for all their hard work. How do you organise a memorable event, one they actually thank you for?

1.      Book your venue early – Get it in the diary

2.      Splurge a little

3.      Show your staff some love

4.      Provide a bit of magic with theming and entertainment

5.      Book transport

1.      The larger your organization the earlier you need to get onto this to avoid clashing and competing schedules. To get the ball rolling, simply choosing a venue and date is all that’s needed. Left it a little late? A midweek date is a great option, and cheaper too. Just ensure you give your staff a wee sleep in the next day.

2.      It’s time to thank your staff and let them let their hair down. A private and exclusive venue ensures that the seclusion, privacy and intimacy to really relax and enjoy the Christmas party vibe. Live music in the gardens, or a rocking DJ to get everyone up on the dance floor. I mean who doesn’t love a good boogie? Providing a great selection of alcohol-free beverages (please do it properly), and alcoholic beverages with some yummy Christmas tucker ensures the basics are covered. Adding in some Christmas theming will add to the glitz and glamour of the event. Who doesn’t love a bit of tinsel and fairy lights to set the scene.

3.      Whilst we are all here for the party, this is also a really great opportunity to inspire your team and uplift their spirits. With a big thankyou and reminder of how their contribution has played a part in the company’s success and a great way to create some buzz and loyalty for the year to come.

4.      Theming, décor, entertainment – go nuts with decorations, choose a fun theme – you are never too old to play dress up! From Christmas elves, the classic ugly sweater, walking Christmas tree, wearing all white….Your entertainment will help distinguish your staff Christmas party from every other company bash. If budget is tight, how about utilizing a Spotify playlist and splurging on a jazz band, a dance troupe, a local comedian? Or setting up a photobooth – this can keep people entertained for hours!

5.      This is really important factor not to be missed, it’s your host responsibility to ensure everyone gets home safely. A bus or organizing multiple taxis or simply paying the uber bill ensures no-one gets stranded in the idle of no-where with no way to get home. As a nice touch, a wee hangover cure box with some berocca and Panadol and a wee sweet treat is a great hit!
